Winner – Custom Kitchens 159 sq ft or less, GOHBA Interior Design Awards 2012
This kitchen renovation revolved around an existing table that is a family heirloom. Because of its size, the interesting design was best suited to be used with banquette seating. This banquette is outside of the actual kitchen area as defined by the passage way to the outside deck and to the living room.
The main kitchen is a double-L design with the sink and range exactly centered in their spaces; the sink to the window mullion, and the range to the wall space for the hood. The refrigerator and microwave units are flanked by matching pull-out pantries and finished in an ebonized maple. The same colour was used to create a range focal point. The remainder of the kitchen was finished in cherry to match the table. Glass tiles are carefully executed and “connect” the main kitchen to the banquette area.
