A young professional couple set out to build a contemporary design inside of a classic Spanish colonial home. Some minor modifications to the interior architecture resulted in some major design benefits. The air handling closet in the great room became a massive ‘Feature wall’ that accommodated the T.V. as ‘Art.’ Precise location of the windows and doors in the kitchen aligned with interior design elements. All of the windows and doors were executed without casings for a clean and contemporary effect. Some of the key design features were items such as, the air handler in the mud room that was integrated into the millwork, and a ‘barn door’ to the office which had special character. All the baths demonstrated an attention to detail that was driven early on with fixture and finish selections.
Throughout the house, the combination of design layout, lighting design, finish and furniture selections which resulted in a stunning home where modern life is comfortable.
