Winner – Custom Kitchens, GOHBA Interior Design Awards 2005
This kitchen for a customized penthouse is part of an open concept plan. Necessarily the kitchen design considered the rest of the space, including the drama of the views downtown, all major components in the design are scaled to suit the 48" Wolf dual-fuel range; above which is a veneer hood that totals nine feet in length. The fridge wall was designed with a ‘bridge’ of cabinets done in walnut, creating a dramatic contrast to the exotic curly sycamore veneer of the main kitchen. Here the SubZero 736TCI was an essential component to create this design. Only a completely integrated fridge would allow the beautiful cabinetry finish to keep centre stage in this dramatic room. Each side of the bridge is a pull-out pantry with flush kicks to ensure the architecture of the bridge is maintained, and all doors above are touch latch to minimize hardware.
