This very large kitchen space had some major obstacles on its road to success. To begin with, the clients needed to initiate the design process while still in Europe. Thanks to the internet and electronic communications, a dialogue was started and the process began.
The architecture of the room was not flexible. As a townhouse, both rear wall openings were not changeable. The passageways into the kitchen also were not flexible due to the stairs. Despite these challenges, a stunning kitchen has been crafted with intelligent design.
The stainless steel handles and the accents of the appliances complement rich, chocolate coloured, walnut cabinets. On the cooking wall, the cabinets are stacked to take advantage of the 9’ ceiling height. On the fridge wall, the stainless steel fridge was balanced by stainless steel cabinet fronts in perfect symmetry. Above, the open shelves are very convenient for displaying the client’s collection of plates. In contrast to the striking colour of the cabinets, the counter and the backsplash are neutral and serene. Matching pendant lamps hang over the island and the sink area.
Completing the many attractive features of this kitchen with its curved side panels, and expansive (large enough for two newspaper readers) raised eating bar, and convenient wine fridge. It is a beautiful and functional central focal point.
