This bathroom was renovated for a family with 3 boys aged 4 to 8, growing up fast this design needed to anticipate the current and future needs.
The bathroom would frequently be shared and that was accommodated in this design:
- Generous counterspace
- Lots of storage/plenty of drawers
- Partially frosted shower glass
- Lots of towel hangers, and
- A huge mirror that all 3 can use.
At only 68 sq.ft., the size of the room was challenging but not as much as it was before (44 sq.ft.). The former room was enlarged by capturing the closet space from the adjacent bedroom. That bedroom was given a closet in a new location. The enlarged room allowed for a ‘galley’ design with a large vanity on one side and supersized shower on the other. The size and frosting of the shower makes the toilet appear to be in its own room. Those 2 elements are highlighted by a tile surround. Each end of this was drawn by the requirements of niches for the tissue dispenser and soap/shampoo.
A flush shower curb maximises the shower space and provides easy access. Carefully designed tile selections are installed all around the surround making this one room design element. A new vertical window is centered between the 2 sides of the room. It has frosted glass for modesty and an awning window for ventilation.
Colours chosen are neutral and calming in contrast to the busy lives going on here.
