Our clients like to travel and are always enchanted by the luxury of the bathrooms of the hotels that they stay in. This bathroom gives them the same luxury in their beautiful Glebe home. Because of the existing character of the home and location of the room within the home, relocation of the window was impossible, but the slight shift to the positing of the door contributed to a new dynamic for the room. Using shallow cabinets and a pedestal sink, and a wall hung toilet maximized the space of this narrow room. The fixed shower glass is elegant and simple, but prevents the easy use of water controls. They were located at the other end for easy reach. A new glass block window provides privacy and an awning window provides ventilation. The warm walnut cabinets are a perfect contrast to the luxurious white marble.
When it came time in 2005 to renovate the kitchen in our century home, Friedemann proposed a design that optimized the use of space while blending naturally with the traditional characteristics of the house, a combination that ultimately won the Design First team an award for their work. Beyond the design, Friedemann delivered on his promise to manage all aspects of the renovation, leaving us to enjoy the emergence of our spectacular new kitchen, on time and on budget. Visitors inevitably comment on the kitchen, particularly its timeless quality and the way it integrates with the rest of our home. Given our high level of satisfaction, Design First was a natural choice when it came time in 2010 to renovate our master bath. Once again, Friedemann’s creative use of space and attention to detail produced a first class outcome.
