Winner – Customized Tract, GOHBA Interior Design Awards 2005
To accommodate the needs of this client, the builder combined two of the penthouse units into this new highrise downtown. The design for this new home was to follow a strict contemporary esthetic with all unnecessary details left behind. Each room was detailed with exact precision for layout, ceiling design, lighting, tile design and millwork.
A significant layout change involved the bedroom door to improve the sightline upon entering the home. The new space became a gallery of art. The ensuite closet was modified to accommodate built-in wardrobe. The centerpiece of the home is the kitchen which was designed to maximum effect with large scale elements. Exact alignment of coffered ceilings above the kitchen and living room contribute to the drama of this open concept.
The drama and space of the open back wall gave rise to the principal interior elements and the family room. The television, the dividing wall, the kitchen island and cooking wall, all share the same centerline with each element having a cohesive design. Ceiling designs over the island and dining table are similar.
Customized features also include: all custom doors and trim, built-in aquarium, two built-in stereo cabinets, customized and headboard, granite wainscot in ensuite, specialty millwork for baths, precise tile layout for baths and custom stained hardwood flooring.
