The client works full-time from home and had only seventy-two square feet of room available as an office. Before the renovation it was small and uninviting. New pocket French doors opened the space to let light flow and to “steal” space from the hallway. A sweeping curved worktop that continues over filing cabinets is deep to allow for equipment and work. Corkboard covered walls on three sides allow for notes and personal mementos while also adding linear continuity. Forty-eight inches of full height storage accommodates the less attractive items, while the opposite side contains sixty-six inches of file drawers. The maple cabinetry worktop makes for a warm and inviting room.
“I wanted an efficient office that was also well designed. I'm very pleased with this space — I'm a busy person and everything here is at my fingertips. There is a lot of space to work on, and Design First maximized the space of the entire room for more storage. Everything has its place.”
