A few minor adjustments to the space greatly enhanced this kitchen renovation. The pony wall separating the kitchen and family room was shifted to accommodate the banquette cabinets, and the window was repositioned to accommodate the cooking appliances.
The use of shallow cabinets on side of the room allowed for a larger island that has the microwave within easy reach of the cooking triangle. The simple yet dramatic range hood is a nice focal point with matching trim to finish the top of the backsplash tile. Demi-tall dish pantry and fridge sections create interesting tableaus for decorative items and as well as make the room feel wider.
A beautiful and comfy banquette with funky fabric and chairs leaves lots of room around the island and for moving in and out of the new patio door. Both the window and door were finished to match the cabinets. Heated limestone floors are complemented by matching limestone backsplash tiles.
The other side of the banquette backrest became the new location of the TV, giving the family room an entirely new orientation.
We have used Design First Interiors services twice: the first time to redo our kitchen and the other time to redo a bathroom. In both cases, it was a total redesign. On both occasions, Friedemann sat down with us and took plenty of time to know our needs and the items we had on our wish list. There are no boundaries with him. He starts with a clean slate and everything builds up from there. He listens to you and makes sure he delivers a product that works for you. He's an absolute genius at what he does. Before you start any big house renovation project, consider stopping by Design First Interiors to get Friedemann's advice and opinion.
