Family Matters
This complete house renovation was motivated by a young family’s desire for a contemporary style without sacrificing the need to accommodate children. On the ground floor walls were relocated and or removed to create better communication between the kitchen and dinning room. The front entry ‘Air lock’ was removed and a closet was replaced with cabinetry. The stairs were re-placed and finished to match new flooring. The entry from the garage was reconfigured to combine mudroom and laundry functions. The powder room was updated with a funky new look, and both existing fireplaces were given a facelift.
On the second floor the renovation concentrated on the master suite. The primary benefit of repositioning the access to the bedroom was that it allowed the former ‘Hall’ space to become part of the bath, where minimalism is the key to successful design. The bedroom’s former closet was replaced with a wardrobe cabinet and funky lighting above.
